On Thursday evening, October 17, Dundee High School held its annual prize giving. Thank you to all the parents and guests of honour who attended; DHS really appreciates the support you give the school. The evening was a great celebration of academic, cultural and sporting excellence and DHS would like to congratulate each and every prize winner. May this serve as an encouragement to all DHS learners to continue to work hard and excel. A special thank you to Mr J. Douthwaite who delivered a very encouraging and entertaining speech which was much enjoyed and appreciated by all in attendance. Thank you to all the DHS staff who attended and to Mr Devereux, and the other teachers involved, for all the hard work and preparation put into the prize giving. At the end of the evening, and after many long hours of increasing anticipation for the grade 11s, the prefects for 2014 were announced. With so many deserving candidates on the list, there were some learners who, unfortunately, did not make the committee; do not let this dishearten you or deter you from having an amazing final year at DHS! Congratulations to the new 2014 prefects:THANK YOU:

DHS is confident that these learners will lead the school with dignity, pride and honour.
We express our sincere appreciation to the kind and supportive Grade 8 parents, who donated money or eats and who worked so hard to prepare a wonderful function for all the guests after the prize giving. We are looking forward to many good years of co-operation! SPORT PRIZE GIVING:
Dundee High held its Mini Sport and Culture Prize Giving on Wednesday, 9 October. At this prestigious event, achievements connected to sport and culture, were rewarded. DHS did extremely well during the year of 2013 and we look forward with the conviction that 2014 promises to be even better. We offer a wide variety of sport and culture and our learners have many opportunities to help them develop their talents and bring praise to the name of Dundee High School. Merit certificates, half colours, full colours and trophies were handed out. Congratulations to the many learners involved. CRICKET:
On Thursday, 10 October, Dundee High's U/15 Cricket team took on Vryheid High School. Our boys had to let go of many extras in their bowling over, which eventually gave Vryheid's run rate a huge boost. The DHS boys showed character and ended off the season with a brave performance, despite injuries and the absence of some key players. Unfortunately they lost the game by 66 runs. The U/15 team, under the very dedicated and motivated coaching of Mr Visser, Mr Halforty and Mr Boggs, won 5 out of their 6 games and once again proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in future. On Friday, 11 October, Dundee High School's 1st Cricket team travelled to Vryheid to play in their annual league fixture. DHS's young and inexperienced 1st team unfortunately lost their match, but proved that they have a wealthy base of players to choose from next year. 2014's season seems to be promising and hopefully the players involved will improve in the next season. MULTI-SPORT:
Congratulations to Jonathan Benjamin, who has been selected for the KZN Inland Team. This is an extra-ordinary achievement and we are so proud of you, Jonathan!
Dundee High School's Multi-sport team took part in their final official race for 2013. The Team showed off with a new Multi-sport kit, but unfortunately the weather played a part in spoiling the party. Dundee High School however prevailed in spite of the weather, and once again strung together a complement of prizes. 2014 remains an exciting prospect for the Dundee High School Multi-sport team as they look forward to being the best in the business for another season. Remember life is too short for just one sport ; so Multi-sport! Congratulations to the following learners, who all received medals at the last meeting:ART EXHIBITION:
Hemisha Laloo, Nomalungelo Mkhize, Juwairiyyan Moola, Nonsikelelo Ngobese and Siphelele Linda all took part as well. Congratulations and well done to all these learners.

On Thursday, October 10, the Grade 12s hosted their end of year art exhibition at DHS. The level of work was outstanding and as always, incredibly diverse, which aptly reflected the individuality of each young artist. The hard work and developing talent of each learner could be seen through the journey of their year's art work. Thank you to the parents and members of the public who came to support the exhibition and thank you to Mrs Carter for preparing the learners and organising such a successful evening. Thank you especially to the DHS Grade 12 learners for bravely exhibiting their talents for all to see. EXAMINATIONS:
