DHS Pongola Rugby Tour
On the 25th of April 2014 Dundee High's U/15 and 1st rugby teams travelled to Pongola to play in their High School Rugby Festival. In the u/15's second fixture, they managed to draw with Grantleigh, 7 all. The 1st team played their second match of the tournament against Grantleigh and managed to trump the opposition in a spectacular game 24-23. Inland Hockey Trials
Surina Gregory has progressed to the next round of U/18 KZN Inland Hockey Trials, which will take place on the 18th of May 2014 at PMB Girls High. Minenhle Mdhlalose and Chantè Groenewald have also progressed to the next round of U/16 Country District trials which will be held on the 25th of May 2014. Well Done to these girls. TOURS
DHS 1st Team Parys Rugby tour DHS Sport vs Pongola
From the 31st of March to the 3rd of April 2014, Dundee High School's 1st Rugby team travelled to the Free-State to play in the Yield Parys Rugby Tournament. Our team faced opponents from prestige schools like Hoërskool Kroonstad and San du Plessis in Bloemfontein.
DHS 1st Girls Hockey Tour
Dundee High's 1st Hockey Team went on tour to The Elsie Coetzer Hockey School in Bloemfontein from the 2nd to the 6th of April 2014. DHS managed to win two and draw three matches. Surina Gregory and Soene Kolesky were chosen to play for the selector's team in an exhibition match. Surina Gregory, Minnie Mdhlalose and Zama Bhengu were named player of the match respectively. The team grew and a sense of camaraderie is definitely felt between the 1st Girls Hockey and 1st Boys Hockey Team, who also attended the same tour.
DHS 1st Boys Hockey Tour
Dundee High School's 1st Boys Hockey Team travelled to Bloemfontein from the 2nd of April to the 6th of April 2014 to attend the Elsie Coetzer Hockey School. Our hockey boys made our school proud by comfortably beating Ligbron, Voortrekker, Tygerberg and Midstream amongst others. The only match they lost was against Pietersburg. An amazing feat for Dundee High. Larnell Nero was also named best forward/link of the tournament which is an outstanding achievement. Dundee High was ranked 2nd out of 16 schools in the tournament.
Dundee High 1st Team Netball Tour
The 1st Netball team of Dundee High departed on the 28th of March 2014 to Castle Getaway outside Pretoria. The Girls had fruitful netball clinic sessions from day 2 until the last day. The team manager Mrs Madondo and coach Mrs Nxumalo also took part in some of the activities. The activities that were presented by the staff at Getaway Castle involved strategies and commitment to Netball as a sport. It was a very enjoyable tour and we have grown from it as players and coaches from Dundee High School.
Rugby Dundee High Sport vs Ferrum
An u/15 rugby team as well as the 1st Rugby team travelled to Pongola to play in their annual league fixture on Saturday the 12th of April 2014. Our u/15's showed great fighting spirit in a match that was very evenly balanced, but eventually just couldn't convert their opportunities into points and lost the match 17-7.
Rugby Term two is a very hectic term for all learners and staff because of the sport matches and also the impending examinations at the end of the term. DHS would like to remind learners to keep up with homework, studying and examination preparation as DHS has a high standard of academics to uphold and each learner is encouraged to achieve their best. Strenuis Ardua Cedunt! (Hard work brings success)
Our u/14 boys showed lots of guts by holding off the PUK 16 winners to a smaller margin than expected. Our first team did us proud by drawing with Ferrum 25 all and displayed some champagne rugby on the day and scored more tries than the opposition, and brilliant tries at that.
Dundee High's Netball teams travelled to Newcastle on the 16th of April 2014. After a day of tough competition and unpleasant weather, our U/16 and 2nd Teams managed to beat Ferrum respectively. The u/16's won 18-17, and the 2nd team beat Ferrum by a sizeable margin of 25 - 08. Well done to these teams.
Dundee High's hockey teams played against Ferrum on Wednesday 16 April 2014. Unfortunately our 1st Boys Hockey team lost with 1 goal, but dominated possession and territory for the majority of the game. Our 1st Girls Hockey team also outplayed Ferrum and won all the one-on-one battles. Most of their shots were only inches wide and could unfortunately not convert these goal scoring opportunities into points. They eventually lost 2-1.
