On Saturday, 28 March, several DHS busses departed before a shred of sunrise could be glimpsed on the horizon. The rugby, netball and hockey teams were abuzz with excitement and, upon arriving, really behaved in a way that made DHS proud. The results were as follows:
Hockey – played against Wartburg and drew 0-0; then moved onto play Voortrekker High and won 1-0 and finally lost to Richardsbay 0-1.
Rugby – The U/14 boys had a very convincing victory; the U/15s unfortunately lost their match; U/16s won 14-3; and the first team won 12-7. A special thank you to Chris Purcell from Evo Lubricants for his generous sponsorship.
First team Netball Girls played excellently and DHS is very proud to announce that the girls made it to the semi-finals. They played against Lady of Fathima (drew 6-6), Voortrekker (lost 14-12), King Edward High (won 14-1) and lost in the semi -final against Richardsbay. DHS is indeed looking forward to a great season and wish them well for the upcoming tour to Sportweni.
DHS vs ST DOMINC'S ACADEMY
Last Wednesday, DHS hosted a round of winter sport against St. Dominic’s Academy. The netball ladies performed well, winning all their matches against St. Dom’s. U14/15 won 18-1; second team won 27-3 and the first team won 26-4. The hockey matches were incredibly tight, with DHS drawing most of their matches. The second boys’ hockey team drew 0-0 and the first boys’ team also drew 1-1. The second girls’ team drew 1-1 and our first team ladies finished with an excellent 4-0 victory! Thank you to St. Dominic’s for the tough competition and for travelling to DHS!
DHS NETBALL COACHES EXCEL
The coaches of our first team, second team and under 16 team participated in an inter-departmental tournament, at the Oval, on Wednesday 25 March. They played great netball and all received trophies. They were the winning team. Well done ladies!
