COMPUTERS FOR SALE
The school has upgraded the computers in the computer room and we now have second hand computers available. Dual Core are R2000 and the other computers are R1500. Please enquire at the secretaries.
ATKV APPLOUS - NEWCASTLE
On Monday, 11 May, the DHS Choir took part in the “Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurvereniging’s” choir competition as a non-Afrikaans, inexperienced choir The quality of the other choirs was brilliant and the day very long, but we are incredibly proud of our choir on their achievement of Bronze.
The hard work and dedication paid off, as the choir sounded amazing and moved the audience emotionally. We look forward to our next and last performance of the term on Friday, 22 May, with the NKZN Youth Choir and other choirs thst were invited.
The Emahlaleni Orator’s Competition was held on 25 April at Ferrum High School in Newcastle. Eight of our learners excelled in their speeches and were awarded gold and silver certificates respectively.
Gold Certificates: Wandile Khumalo, Atiyyah Ameen, Zhen Lee Wang, Krushil Sewmangal, Jessica Roelofse and Keshmiel Govender.
Silver Certificates: Trishen Pillay and Samkelo Ndlela.
Well done to the above learners. We hope to see you at the SA Nationals!
SPEECH AND DRAMA
The Speech and Drama Festival took place from 28 – 30 April. Well done to all who participated. The adjudicator was very impressed with the standard of performances. All presentations were entertaining and well performed. The following learners will receive their Honours Certificate for Speech and Drama at the Annual Prize Giving : Atiyyah Ameen, Jehan Ebrahim, Nabeela Khan and Sadiyah Malek.
Congratulations and well deserved. The Speech and Drama Department would like to encourage more learners to participate, as this will help boost their confidence. It also assists learners to speak and read fluently. We are looking forward to hosting a Drama evening soon.

On Wednesday, 27 May, the WESSA group will have their elimination round to determine which group will be going to Pietermarizburg in term 3. Many thanks to Mr Garner for assisting us in this matter.
SPORT VS VRYHEID HIGH
Please note that in order to raise funds for the matric farewell, all spectators on 16 May (when we play Vryheid High School) will need to pay R10 to enter the sports grounds. Learners in full school uniform may enter free of charge. Learners in civvies will be turned away.
KZN INLAND GIRLS’ HOCKEY
Congratulations to Christine Muller who was selected as a member of the u14 B Inland Hockey team. What a fantastic achievement!
Simone Millar, Soené Kolesky and Surina Gregory will be attending final u18 trials on Sunday, 17 May, at PMB Girls’ High. We wish you all the best and hope you return with good news. We are incredibly proud of you.
