Congratulations to the Dundee High matric class of 2016. You have once again done your school and district proud with the 96% pass rate you achieved.
Four Dundee High learners obtained an average over 80%. Our head girl Siphumelele Gumede was placed second in the Umzinyathi District top five. Siphumelele had an 85.1% average and obtained distinctions in five of her subjects, namely ENGHL, AFRFA, LIFE, BSTD, and VSLA for which she managed 99%. Zhen Lee Wang (84.4%) was second and had distinctions for six of her subjects: ENGHL, AFRFA, LIFE, ACCN, LFSC and BSTD. Jessica Shanahan (80.2%) had five distinctions: AFRFA, LIFE, MLIT, TRSM and VSLA. She was followed by Hafsa Khan (80%) who had four distinctions for ENGHL, AFRFA, LIFE and BSTD. In total 12 learners obtained three or more distinctions. Well done! Dundee High is proud of all of you.
Over and above the 4 A averages a further 9 learners obtained an average above 70% and 26 more an average above 60%. In total 59 of the Dundee High matric class qualified for admission to university by obtaining a bachelors pass (matric exemption).
Of the 982 exams that were written, the class of 2016 obtained 82 subject distinctions. This means that almost 10% of all marks obtained were above 80%.
Of the 19 subjects offered at Dundee High, 13 had a 100% pass rate and 9 had subject averages above 60%. Subjects where more than 5 distinctions were obtained were ZULFA, LIFE, AFRFA, BSTD and ENGHL.
Results such as these once again confirm our school motto “Strenius Ardua Cedunt” – hard work is rewarded. These results could only be achieved by hard work, not only by the learners but also by the dedicated educators of DHS. Thank you and congratulations to each learner, each parent, each educator and most of all thank you to our Heavenly Father who once again held his protective hand over our school and blessed many of our learners with good results.
