DHS TRUMPS ALL COMPETITION AT ANNUAL MOOT COMPETITION
On Friday, September 15, Philasande Mdletshe and Vuyo Ngobese accompanied by Mrs V Sewmangal, travelled to Durban to take part in the National School’s Moot Court Competition (NSMCC) hosted by the University of Pretoria. This is a law competition where contestants have to prepare a court case and present it in front of magistrates who will ask them questions related to their case. Different schools in RSA enter essays of which the top 10 in each province are chosen. Philasande and Vuyo’s essay was 6th in KZN.
On Saturday morning, the team presented their case and the magistrates were amazed at their quick and persuasive answers to their questions. Four KZN teams were chosen to partake in the final rounds on October 4 – 7 at the Pretoria Constitutional Court. Not only did Philasande and Vuyo make it to the final, they won the whole competition for Quintile 4 – 5 schools.
We are so proud of these two learners who won an impressive trophy for their efforts, as well as a beautiful certificate for the school. These two definitely prove that hard work pays off. A vote of thanks goes out to Mrs Sewmangal for accompanying the learners to Durban and helping them with their preparation. The learners were commended on their excellent behaviour and presentation. It is always wonderful to see that learners from DHS are able to put us on the map. Well done!
DHS mudman Michaelis challenge
This weekend was also very amazing, in terms of sport! Mrs Carter and her team of athletes had a very successful day in Vryheid where they managed to have the most entries of nearly 50 athletes. Mrs Carter was also complemented on the wonderful behaviour of the learners. We are proud to say that DHS won R10 000 for having the most entries. Well done Mrs Carter and team!
