The GET Curriculum (Grade 8 and 9) Jump to FET Curriculum (Grade 10-12)
The following subjects are offered in the GET phase:
- Home Language (English HL or Afrikaans HT)
- First Additional Language (Afrikaans EAT or English FAL)
- Mathematics
- Natural Sciences (Physics and Biology)
- Social Sciences (Geography and History)
- Technology (Technology Theory and Computer Literacy)
- Economic Management Science (EMS)
- Art and Culture
- Life Orientation (Theory and Physical Education)
The following pass requirements are applicable to both grade 8 and grade 9:

Choose your Grade 10 subjects based on the strength of your marks. You may also want to consider attending an FET college after Grade 9. Here are a few things to remember:
1. Set goals higher than the minimum requirements. For example, in Home Language the minimum is 50% to pass, but you could set it at 60% or higher to ensure you have a safety margin.
2. If you are struggling with Mathematics and want to take it in Grade 10, consider a goal of at least 50%, otherwise Mathematical Literacy may become compulsory for you. To be successful in Mathematics you have to work hard.
3. Complete all the required Formal Assessment Tasks or School Based Assessment in all of your subjects.
The FET Curriculum (Grade 10-12)
The purpose of the introduction of the FET (Further Education and Training) curriculum is to produce workers with knowledge and skills applicable to today's fast changing world.
THE NQF (NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK)
Academic qualifications will be categorized according to the framework below:

The following FET phase subjects are offered at Dundee High School:
Compulsory subjects:
- Home Language (English HL or Afrikaans HT)
- First Additional Language (Afrikaans EAT, English FAL or Zulu FAL)
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Life Orientation
Choice Subjects:
- Accounting
- Business Studies
- Computer Application Technology
- Consumer Studies
- Economics
- Engineering Graphics and Design
- Geography
- Life Science
- Mechanical Technology
- Physical Science
- Tourism
- Visual Arts
- * Information Technology (only offered as an additional subject)
Be aware of the following subject restrictions:
If you choose Physical Science, you must take Mathematics.
If you choose Mechanical Technology, you must take Mathematics and Physical Science.
If you choose Accounting, it is strongly recommended that you take Mathematics
You must obtain at least 40% in the language of further education (Home Language)
DO NOT CHOOSE A SUBJECT IF YOU CANNOT REALISTICALLY PASS THE SUBJECT!!!

K1 - PHSC or BSTD or CNST or CATN
K2 - LFSC or ECON or TRSM or GRDS
K3 - BSTD or ACCN or GEOG or MCHT or VSLA
Additional subjects may be taken:
- if the learner is academically capable
- must be done after official school time
- all tasks and test requirements for CASS mark must be completed subject must be taken from
Gr 10 - 12 - the learner must pass the subject every term
