ADMISSION OF A LEARNER TO DUNDEE HIGH SCHOOL

ADMISSION TO THE SCHOOL AS A PUPIL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  1. Acceptance by the pupil and his/her parent(s) / legal guardian of the mission statement as a basic point of departure to involvement with the school.
  2. All enrolled pupils and their parent(s) / legal guardian shall adhere to and comply with the regulations of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.
  3. A pupil making application to be enrolled for admission to the school shall meet with the medical requirements for admission as stipulated by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education.
  4. The parent(s)/legal guardian shall acknowledge their acceptance of the school rules in writing. The enrolled pupils and parent(s) / legal guardian shall comply with the school rules.
  5. A pupil making application to be enrolled for admission to the school shall be of an appropriate age, determined by the Department.
  6. The parent(s) / legal guardian applying for the admission of a pupil will provide the Principal and/or Governing body with the required documentation to enable a decision for admission to be made.
  7. The final decision on the admission of a pupil shall rest with the Principal and/or Governing Body.
  8. The medium of instruction and general communication in the school shall be English/Afrikaans, except in the teaching of another language. Pupils shall take English/Afrikaans as main language and Afrikaans/English as second language.
  9. A pupil shall be expected to participate in the extra-curricular programme of the school.
  10. The parent(s) / legal guardian and enrolled pupils shall respect the traditions and culture, and ethos of the school.
  11. The parent(s) / legal guardian shall be expected to pay yearly, in full, their contribution to the school fund, as determined by the Governing Body or to apply for partial or full exemption of school fees before a specified date.

SCHOOL FEES

An annual school fee is to be paid to the school.

NB:      Payment of prescribed fees can be made in one of the following ways:

  1. Payment of the whole amount before the end of February. A discount will be given in this case.
  • Payment in equal monthly instalments (max 11 instalments).  The first payment must be made before or at the end of the first week of school in January of the year; thereafter before or on the last day of the month (February to November).
  • Payments may also be made by way of post-dated cheques, bank debit orders or direct salary deductions, the first of which must be paid in the first week of school in January of the year. Each and every payment thereafter must be made on/before the last day of each and every succeeding month (February to November). A card machine is available at the school office to facilitate payments.

INSURANCE

Insurance is available as an option.  This insures learners against sport injuries (not paid by your Medical Aid), injuries during the normal school day and whilst travelling to school and back.  These premiums are strictly payable at the beginning of the 1st term. The premium depends on which option you choose, and varies between boys and girls.

All the above fees are payable to Dundee High School, OR directly into the bank account.

It is preferable to pay all school fees into the above account, and then send a copy of the deposit slip, along with details of which payments you have made, as well as on whose behalf you have paid, (i.e. name of child and grade) to the school.

BUS FEES

Bus tickets are available from the secretaries’ office. No learner will be allowed to travel on the bus without a bus ticket.

HOSTEL FEES

Hostel fees are strictly payable in advance at the beginning of each term. There are different fees for full and weekly boarders.
