On Friday, 2 February, DHS hosted our annual athletics meeting. It was a beautiful day where learners were able to showcase their talents in various track and field events. DHS also invited Sarel Cilliers to join the fun and to add some healthy competition to the day. Many learners stepped up to the plate and delivered great entertainment for the day. Lungelo Mthembu finished the 100m boys’ u/19 in record time. We are extremely proud of all our athletes that took part as well as the general feeling of camaraderie between the two schools. The day was quite aptly ended with one last event that ensured enough entertainment for the crowd. The teachers’ relay consisted of two female and two male educators from each school with Mr Ayob and Mr Dube in the final stretch. With the ambulance on standby and very excited learners, the race began! The crowd was roaring as the educators handed the baton from one to the next. Finally Mr Ayob and Mr Dube came speeding down the final 100m and it was Mr Ayob who finished the race first for Dundee High School’s team. It was an excellent day of great sport and we would like to thank the Sarel staff for joining us and ensuring that the day was a success.
